Troops Arrest Suspected Militant in Kaduna as Rival Bandit Groups Clash

Troops have apprehended a suspected militant at a forward operating base in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, against the backdrop of reported infighting among armed groups operating in the region.

Security sources disclosed that the suspect was arrested at approximately 6:45 p.m. on April 16, 2026, by personnel stationed at Forward Operating Base Afaka.

Preliminary findings indicate that the individual fled a camp in Sabon Birni following violent clashes between rival group leaders identified as Dogo Gide and Kabiru. The confrontations are believed to be occurring along the Kachia–Kagarko–Chikun axis, a corridor long associated with persistent security threats.

The suspect remains in custody while authorities conduct further investigations to verify the account and extract actionable intelligence on the structure and operations of the armed groups involved.

According to the sources, the reported internal divisions may signal emerging fractures within the networks, presenting potential opportunities for security forces to weaken their operational capabilities.
