Wike’s Camp Issues Conditions for PDP Convention

Published

on

A group of PDP leaders loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has laid down Wike’s Red Lines for the upcoming National Convention. The group, calling themselves “Eminent Leaders,” issued fresh conditions that they insist must be met to ensure the convention’s validity

Key Points:

Wike’s allies met to set new conditions for the PDP convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan.
They demanded no “micro-zoning” of positions, insisting the National Chairman must remain in the North-Central.
The group warned that failure to comply would render the convention “invalid” and disenfranchise members.
They called for fresh, inclusive congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra states, and for the results of the South-South congress to be respected.
The meeting included key figures like former Governors Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu, and the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.

This latest move by Wike’s camp escalates the power struggle within the PDP, placing the party at a “defining crossroads.” The demands for fairness and inclusivity, backed by the threat of invalidating the convention, highlight the deep divisions that could determine the party’s future.
