Tinubu Makes U-turn on New NTA Appointments, Recalls Dembos as Director-General

In a presidential U-turn, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reversed the recently announced management changes at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). The directive recalls the former Director-General, Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, and the Executive Director of News, Ayo Adewuyi, to their roles, effectively nullifying the previous new appointments.
Key Points:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reversed the new management appointments at the NTA.
The President has recalled Salihu Abdullahi Dembos to continue as the Director-General.
Dembos was appointed in October 2023 and will now complete his three-year tenure.
The Executive Director of News, Ayo Adewuyi, will also return to his role until his term ends in 2027.
The directive, announced by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga, sets aside all new appointments that were previously announced.
The sudden reversal puts the leadership of the national television network back on its previous course. The decision, though unstated, is a significant move in the President’s administration.
