Shake-up as IGP redeploys AIGs, posts jimoh to Lagos
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olutunji Disu, has approved the redeployment of several senior officers across key departments and formations of the Nigeria Police Force.
The directive was conveyed in an internal wireless message from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, marked “Most Immediate,” signalling the urgency of the postings.
According to the message obtained by Sahara Reporters, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were reassigned to strategic roles within the force.
AIG Ado Emmanuel was posted to the Department of Research and Planning at Force Headquarters, while AIG Joseph Eribo was assigned to the Armament Department.
Miller G. Dantawaye was deployed to Operations, and Henry Ifeanyi Uche to Training and Development.
Similarly, Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo was posted to Accounts and Budget, while Dahiru Mohammed was assigned to Zone 15, Maiduguri.
The reshuffle also saw Dankombo F. Morris posted to Zone 4, Makurdi, while Bello Shehu was redeployed to Zone 14, Katsina.
Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba was assigned to Legal Services, Ahmed Musa to Community Policing, and Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2 Command in Lagos.
Simeon U. Akpanudom was redeployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos, while Haruna Olufemi assumed duty at the Special Protection Unit, Force Headquarters.
The message directed all formations to update their records in line with the new postings.
The redeployments come on the heels of recent promotions within the force, with newly elevated AIGs and Commissioners of Police expected to formally assume their new ranks.
Sources within the police hierarchy disclosed that the redeployments were part of efforts to reposition the force for greater efficiency.
The posting of AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2 Command, Lagos, follows weeks of reported lobbying by the officer to retain a strategic role within the state.
Zone 2 Command, headquartered in Onikan, oversees police operations in Lagos and Ogun states, making it one of the most influential commands in the country.
Sources had earlier indicated that Jimoh sought redeployment either to the Zone 2 Command or the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos.
His initial bid to head the Zone 2 Command reportedly failed amid ongoing shake-ups within the force.
However, subsequent developments suggest that the officer eventually secured the strategic posting.
The Police Service Commission recently approved the promotion of Jimoh and 12 other Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The promotions followed written examinations and oral interviews conducted at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Jimoh, who assumed office in February 2025 as the 41st Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, is expected to vacate the position following his elevation.
Sources hinted that Tijani Fatai, currently Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Ports Command, may be appointed as his replacement.
