Reno Omokri hints at rift between Peter Obi, Bishop Oyedepo
Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has hinted that a rift exists between ex-presidential candidate Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church.
This was after Oyedepo celebrated his 71st birthday, with congratulatory messages pouring in from far and wide on social media.
However, Omokri noticed that no such message came from Obi, who once positioned himself as a friend of Oyedepo before the 2023 presidential election, which he lost.
At the time, a leaked audio had Obi begging Oyedepo on the phone to make a statement before the election to make Nigerians believe it is a religious war. Obi, who was touted as the Christian candidate in the election, denied the phone call and threatened to sue the news platform that released it, which he never did.
With no birthday message to Oyedepo this year from Obi, unlike in 2023 and 2024, Omokri took to social media with the post: “So just like that, Peter Obi neglected to wish his ‘Yes Daddy’, Bishop David Oyedepo, a happy seventy-first birthday! Is that part of his ‘Religious War’ against the Muslim Ummah?”
He earlier wrote, “Ah ah, Peter, what is happening? Today is Bishop David Oyedepo’s seventy-first birthday, and it is past 9 PM, and you have not congratulated the same man you were calling ‘Yes Daddy’ a mere two years ago?
“Or have you quarrelled with him like you parted ways with Professor Wole Soyinka?
“What is happening, Peter? Is there now a “Religious War” between Daddy and son? Come clean!
“Abi, you were so busy celebrating your ‘dear brother’s’ coronation that you forgot to mark your ‘Daddy’s’ birthday? Confusion!”
