Ooni of Ife’s spokesperson shades Alaafin of Oyo over coronation guests

Mose Olafare, the spokesperson for the Palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has once again taken a subtle dig at the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade.

The last time he did so was after the birthday ceremony of the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, which the Alaafin attended.

According to Olafare, despite the Ooni’s absence at the event, he was recognised before the Alaafin, who was seated. His post on Facebook was seen by many as a shade at Oba Owoade, amid ongoing discord between the monarchs.

In a new Facebook post shared after the coronation ceremony of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Ooni’s spokesperson shared a list of the guests in attendance. He then shared a list of the guests who attended the 2015 coronation ceremony of the Ooni and the 2025 coronation ceremony of the Alaafin of Oyo.

His followers interpreted his post on Facebook as a show of superiority.
