Nigeria, Saint Kitts and Nevis agree on reciprocal 90 days visa-free entry
Citizens of Nigeria and Saint Kitts and Nevis can now enjoy visa-free entry for up to 90 days under a new agreement mutually signed between both countries.
The development took effect on August 4, according to reports.
Akinsola Akinlabi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), confirmed the reports to TheCable late Sunday night.
This development follows high-level engagements between President Bola Tinubu and Terrance Drew, Saint Kitts’ prime minister, held earlier this year in Abuja.
Both leaders also had meetings during Tinubu’s state visit to Saint Lucia in June.
During a special joint session of the senate and the house of assembly of Saint Lucia, Tinubu said Nigeria was open to exploring a visa waiver arrangement for holders of diplomatic and official passports from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
The OECS comprises Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines — all small island states.
Tinubu’s visit to Saint Lucia was the commencement of diplomatic relations between both states.
The president also pledged a deployment of technical experts to the OECS to boost exchanges and serve as models for broader Africa–Caribbean collaboration.
Days after his address, Nigeria redeemed its pledge.
The reciprocal visa waiver between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Nigeria stands as the first success of Tinubu’s proposal for a wider waiver arrangement with the OECS.
