Court Halts 2025/2026 Admissions at UNILAG, OAU [PHOTOS]
A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has ordered the immediate suspension of the 2025/2026 admission process at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
The order, issued on Tuesday by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello, also restrains the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) from releasing or approving any admission list for the new academic session, pending the determination of a suit filed by a group of aggrieved candidates.
The applicants — Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak — approached the court on behalf of other affected students, seeking interim injunctions to halt the ongoing admission exercise over alleged irregularities in the post-UTME process.
In his ruling, Justice Segun-Bello said the case raised “veritable and triable issues” that merit full judicial consideration. He consequently ordered all parties to maintain the status quo and directed the applicants to serve notice of the suit on the respondents before the substantive hearing.
The case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for further hearing.
