Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested two fake police officers with two Hilux vehicles loaded with cannabis in Taraba State.

The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, disclosed this in a statement made available to TVC News.

According to him, the arrest was made following credible intelligence. Troops, alongside NDLEA personnel, intercepted and apprehended the suspects at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area.

The suspects, who were dressed in mobile police uniforms, were found in possession of two Toyota Hilux vehicles loaded with substances suspected to be cannabis.

Preliminary investigations revealed that none of the suspects are serving police officers.

The cannabis was reportedly loaded in Akure, Ondo State, and was being transported to Adamawa State before the interception.

One of the suspects has been identified as Monday George, a 71-year-old dismissed Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), while the second is Ezeugo Destiny Uche, aged 41. Occupants of the second Hilux fled the scene upon sighting the troops, abandoning the vehicle.

A total of 1,134 blocks of cannabis were recovered from both vehicles.

The suspects and the seized items have since been handed over to the NDLEA office in Wukari for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops and NDLEA operatives for their effective collaboration and resilience.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to making Taraba State unsafe for criminals and drug traffickers, and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations across the state.
