The Foundation for Environmental Rights, Advocacy & Development (FENRAD) has raised concerns over Abia State’s poor performance in the 2025 Subnational Audit Efficacy (SAE) Index, describing the ranking as a reflection of deep-rooted issues in fiscal transparency and accountability.

The index, released by the Paradigm Leadership Support Initiative, ranked Abia 36th out of the 36 states, with a score of just 9 percent, far below the national average of 34.5 percent.
